Harvey is an AI platform for law firms and in-house teams, with agents, shared Spaces, a document Vault, contract intelligence, and a command center for usage. The site says more than 3,000 legal organizations use it and that default controls include SAML SSO, audit logs, IP allow-listing, and data lifecycle management.
- Pricing
- Not published
- No price, plan, or free trial is listed on the homepage opened. Access is presented through the product site rather than a public rate card. Last checked 5 October 2026.
- Key features
- SAML SSO. It can carry a stretch of the work, then wait. A person still approves anything that leaves the building.
What users say
Litigators on r/biglaw say Harvey is good enough for client work when the firm will not allow a public chatbot, and they mention proofing and contradiction checks.
On r/legaltech, a pilot user says the sales motion was heavy and the product felt like a thin interface on GPT. Price is the complaint, not a missing feature list.
“I find Harvey invaluable in my work (I’m a litigator). I think that ChatGPT performs better, but Harvey is more than good enough, and we’re not authorized to use public models with client materials.”
Reddit“For the price, complete bullshit. the sales team oversells like crazy, but under the hood it’s just a thin UI on top of GPT with a prompt sheet and some document storage.”

What users say
A r/biglaw commenter who left Harvey for smaller tools names Spellbook as one of the places they landed.
That comment does not describe a Spellbook failure. It says you still have to review the output yourself.
“So I moved to smaller tools like Spellbook, AI Lawyer, and CoCounsel and it honestly felt like the same practical benefit with less fuss.”

What are legal AI tools?
Legal AI tools draft, review, research, or manage matters. An AI legal assistant for a large firm is usually a closed system, so client documents are not pasted into a public chatbot. AI for lawyers also covers practice management, which is a different product.
AI contract review and AI legal research are slices of the same shelf. The consumer phrase "AI lawyer" is a different search, full of news and app stores, and it is not this list.
How an AI legal assistant works
A lawyer uploads a document or asks a research question inside a system the firm has approved. The product drafts, cites, or flags a clause. A person still signs the work. Harvey, Legora, Spellbook, CoCounsel, and Lexis+ AI are the sales-led end of that. Paxton publishes $499 per user a month. Clio starts at $49 per user a month and is practice management with AI features, not a research-only product.
Eve, EvenUp, and Luminance did not publish a self-serve price on the pages we opened.
Features to look for in AI for lawyers
The document has to stay in a system the firm allows, and a person still has to sign.
- A place to put client documents that is not a public chat
- Drafting or review, with a person still signing the work
- A price, or a clear statement that pricing is a contract
Benefits of AI contract review
Lawyers get a system the firm has approved, and you can tell research products from the practice-management bill.
- Give lawyers a system the firm has approved
- Separate research products from practice-management products
- Walk into a pilot knowing the price is custom, when it is
Who uses legal AI tools
Firm innovation teams and lawyers who have been told they cannot paste client work into a consumer chatbot. Solo and small-firm buyers who need a published number should look at Paxton or Clio and read what each one actually is.
Legal AI pricing
Harvey, Legora, Spellbook, CoCounsel, Lexis+ AI, Eve, EvenUp, and Luminance do not publish a self-serve price. Paxton lists $499 per user a month. Clio's plans start at $49 per user a month. Last checked 5 October 2026.
Public comments describe Harvey pilots that started with a demand for dozens of lawyers. That is a contract, not a seat you add on a card form.
How to choose the best legal AI
If you need a number, Paxton and Clio are the ones that published one, and they are different products. If you are a large firm comparing Harvey, Legora, CoCounsel, or Lexis+ AI, budget for a pilot and a minimum seat count.
Do not treat Clio's $49 as the price of Harvey. One is practice management. The other is a research and drafting pilot.
