## What are AI agents for customer service?

An AI customer service agent answers customers in chat, email, or voice and is supposed to resolve the issue, not only deflect it. AI customer support software can also be the helpdesk you already own, with a suggested reply inside it.

An AI chatbot for customer service is the narrower product: a bot on the site. Fin, Decagon, and Sierra are sold as agents that should close the ticket. Zendesk and Salesforce are the suites those agents sit beside.

## How an AI customer service agent works

The agent reads the help center, the order, or the ticket, drafts or sends a reply, and hands off when it is stuck. Fin prices that as an outcome. Gorgias and Chatbase are closer to a monthly plan a smaller team can start. Zendesk sells AI agents inside Suite. Agentforce has a Foundations tier listed at $0, which is not the same as a finished support program.

Decagon, Sierra, Ada, Forethought, and Pylon did not publish a rate card on the pages we opened.

## Features of AI customer service software

Resolution, a handoff, and a price you can read are the three checks. A deflection rate is not a feature.

- Answers grounded in the help center or the order system

- A handoff to a person when the agent is stuck

- A price you can read, even if that price is per resolution

## Benefits of an AI chatbot for customer service

Repetitive tickets get a first answer, and you can see whether you pay per seat or per outcome.

- Cover the repetitive tickets

- See whether you pay per seat or per outcome

- Keep the ticket in the helpdesk you already run

## Who uses AI customer support

Support leaders comparing a specialist agent with the AI add-on on Zendesk, Salesforce, or Gorgias. A small shop that wants a bot on the site should read Chatbase before a six-vendor demo.

## AI customer service software pricing

Starting points we could verify: Fin at $0.99 per outcome. Decagon, Sierra, Ada, Forethought, and Pylon did not publish a price. Zendesk AI agents come with Suite Team, which we read at $55 per agent a month billed annually. Salesforce Agentforce has a Foundations tier at $0. Gorgias and Chatbase publish monthly plans.

Last checked 5 October 2026. The Zendesk figure is the suite, not a standalone AI price.

## How to choose an AI agent for customer service

If you want a number before the demo, read Fin's per-outcome rate, Gorgias's starter plan, and Chatbase's paid plan. If the team already lives in Zendesk or Salesforce, price the suite you would buy anyway before you add a second vendor.

Decagon and Sierra are sales-led. Do not invent a budget for them from this page.
